Who we are:

The Furniture and Woodworking Cluster partnership (FWCP) is an initiative that currently brings together seven cluster initiatives in the furniture and woodworking sector from six European countries.

The clusters represent a total number more than 2.780 members, of which more than 2.660 are SMEs.

Our main goal:

The basic motivation for establishing a partnership was an international cooperation in the field of scientific research, technology transfer and know-how transfer, as well as preparation of joint international projects leading to European Strategic Cluster Partnership.

Main goal is provision of full and effective cooperation among the parties with a purpose to future development and strengthening of mutual relations in the field of furniture and woodworking industry.

Main focus of cooperation:

  • preparation of a joint project proposals aimed at developing a strategic partnership, the internationalisation of the clusters within appropriate call from relevant programmes;
  • activities leading to share experiences and good practices among partners;
  • enhancing cluster managers´ skills towards added-value SME support services;
  • supporting the development of a comprehensive cluster strategy for individual clusters, including for strengthened interregional collaboration and partnership development not only across EU value chains;
  • intensive cooperation with universities to exchange information, transfer experiences and spread new trends from academic to manufacturing environment and vice versa;
  • focusing on innovation and design;
  • organising twinning, collaboration, networking and learning activities and cooperation projects.

Establishment:

On 29 October 2019, an international conference Furniture and Woodworking Cluster Partnership was held in Brno, organized by the Cluster of Czech Furniture Manufacturers, cooperative. The program of the event was focused mainly on establishing new business contacts, sharing examples of good practice and experience in the field of furniture, interior design, innovations and especially on establishing a new international partnership among the participating clusters.

As part of the afternoon program, the furniture clusters from the Czech Republic, Slovenia, Spain and Sweden signed a Memorandum on Cooperation in the furniture and woodworking sector, which established the international platform Furniture and Woodworking Cluster Partnership. The Italian Cluster Arredo e Sistema Casa has also supported the establishment of the partnership, signed the Memorandum on Cooperation additionally and thus become the fifth founding member of the international platform. As emphasized by Lucia Haraslínová, Chairwoman of the Cluster of Czech Furniture Manufacturers, the basic motivation for establishing a partnership was an international cooperation in the field of scientific research, technology transfer and know-how transfer, as well as preparation of joint international projects leading to Europesn Strategic Cluster Partnership.

The founding members of the partnership are:

  • Cluster of Czech Furniture Manufacturers (Czech Republic)
  • HABIC – Basque Habitat, Wood, Hospitality and Design Cluster (Spain)
  • Interior Cluster Sweden (Sweden)
  • Wood Industry Cluster (Slovenia)
  • Cluster Legno Arredo e Sistema Casa FVG (Italy)

The Furniture and Woodworking Cluster Partnership is an open partnership in which other clusters can join. The partnership is open to clusters focusing on furniture, woodworking and interior design.
